I founded combatwaterdamage.com in 2019 out of frustration over the lack of information available online about sump pumps. In the first year, I published dozens of articles explaining all different aspects of sump pumps, from how they work, how to install sump pumps, to articles as detailed as how a check valve works.
By now, combatwaterdamage.com has become a data driven platform, where we collect more than 50 data points about each sump pump that we discuss on this website. This allows us to meaningfully compare them against one another, and give you suggestions about which sump pump is exactly the right one to buy for your situation. We currently have several hundreds of sump pumps in our database that we use to compare the pumps – and only a fraction of them have yet been published as dedicated articles.
To save you time, we have comprised several lists of the best sump pumps in their respective categories, such as heavy duty, submersible, pedestal and cheap sump pumps.
Unfortunately, protecting your house against water damage consists of more than just securing your basement with a sump pump alone. Therefore, we’re currently in the process of branching out towards all aspects of water damage protection. For example, we’ve scheduled research into the insurance side of water damage. We expect to be able to publish our research in a series of articles about that topic in 2021.
